  1. 2.  Judah Brown was born in 1671 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA (son of Daniel Brown and Alice Hearndon); died after 1738.

It was transcribed in 1996 by Hal G. Brown, editor of the Brown Family Genealogical Society (19 Terrace Street, Keene NH 03431). JUDAH3 BROWN (Daniel,2 Chad1), born at Providence about 1671, died at Scituate 18 Jan. 1733/4. He married HANNAH ¾ , who was living, very aged, in 1745, when her son Judah was appointed her guardian. 'On 9 Jan. 1712 Daniel Brown of Providence conv eyed to his brother Judah 103 acres in Scituate, the deed stating that 'our father was Daniel Brown formerly of Providence.' This deed was not recorded until 1734. (Scituate Records, book 2, p. 1.) Administration on the estate of Judah Brown wa s granted to his widow Hannah and his eldest son Judah. 'Children, born at Providence: i. JUDAH,4 b. about 1710. ii. DEBORAH, 'daughter of Judah,' m. at Warwick, 28 Nov. 1728, SAMUEL CROSS. iii. ABIGAIL, 'daughter of Judah,' m. at Warwick, 26 June 1729, JOHN WARNER, JR.54. iv. DAVID v. HANNAH, m. JAMES3 BURLINGAME (John2). vi. ELISHA, d. unm. at Scituate 16 Apr. 1738. His heirs were his mother Hannah, his brothers Judah and David, and his sisters Hannah Burlingame and Phebe Brown. vii. PHEBE, 'daughter of Judeth,' m. at Warwick, 20 Jan. 1740, WILLIAM UTTER, JR. Judah and Hannah Brown had a son Judah, b. 1710, Providence. He m. 31 Oct 1731 in Scituate, Providence, RI Susannah Hopkins, dau. of Thomas (Thomas, Thomas, William) and Elizabeth Hopkins, b. 8 Oct 1708. Source: Genealogies ofRhode Island Families ....p. 90.

    Notes:

    His lands were laid out in 1685 at Westquadomset, where his sons settled, however his own home was situated on 'The Neck', near Providence. As early as 1672 he owned land north of the Inman Purchase, near 'Loquassuck', near Benjamin Hearnden . He also owned lands at Glocester, where several of his sons settled. Administration of his estate was granted to his widow Alice.

    Daniel married Alice Hearndon on 25 Dec 1669 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Alice (daughter of Benjamin Hearndon and Elizabeth White) was born in 1652 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA; died after 1718. [Group Sheet] [Family chart]

    Notes:

    Arrived aboard the ship Martin to Boston in July 1638 with his wife and son John, aged 8 years. His signature was on an oath proving the death at sea of one of the passengers, Sylvester Baldwin, and proving a will on June 21 before the Govenor . In 1640 he was a member of a committee to consider the Colony boundaries. In 1642 he was ordained as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Providence, the mother church of that faith in America.
